Drink plenty of water to keep your skin moisturized and prevent dry skin and cracking. Avoid caffeine and alcohol for your liquid intakes.

2.Winter is one season where your teeth will be rattling against each other. But make sure you do not use hot water to have a bath as it will not serve any purpose in keeping your skin soft and supple. Luke warm water is the best during winter. Another winter skin care tips is to stay away from bubble baths.

3.To remove the dead skin on the body that occurs during winter you can use a body scrub while you have a luke warm bath. Scrubbing your skin in circular motions is one of the next best winter skin care tips to make your body look soft and fresh too.
Note - You can also make your own homemade body scrub by mixing half a cup of sugar along with a cup of pure coconut oil.

4.Another way to get rid of that bad skin cracking is by having frequent oil massages during winter. It will benefit you by getting rid of the dry skin as well as helping you feel relaxed after a hard day's work. Having an oil bath is also perfect to keep your body smooth.

5.It is very common for the lips to get chapped during the winter season. Keep applying lip balm or butter to the lips when it seems dry. Do not lick your lips when it is chapped as it will dry further.

Most young people become highly aware of their bodies and their appearance during the teenage years. This is an ideal time for them to develop good skin care and health habits.

 Here’s how:

  • Wash the face twice a day, using a suitable cleanser. Teenagers with oily skin should choose a preparation formulated for this skin type.
  • Eat a balanced diet, which includes lots of fruits and vegetables. There is no evidence that any particular food worsens spots or acne, but a healthy diet can improve the overall appearance and condition of the skin.
  • Have a bath or shower and use a deodorant or antiperspirant daily.
  • Wash your hair as often as necessary. Shampooing every day will not harm the hair or make the scalp more oily. Many shampoos and conditioners are designed for frequent use.

  • Avoid thick, greasy cosmetics. There are many oil-free brands on the market, and teenagers with troubled skin should opt for one of these.

Top 10 Skin Care Tips

1.Protect yourself from the sun — use sunscreen and avoid direct sunlight between the hours of 10 and 2.

2.Don’t — I repeat — don’t smoke. Your skin is a large organ and it needs a lot of circulation. Smoking impairs that dramatically. That’s why smokers’ skin looks dull and gray. Instead of having oxy-generated blood delivered to the surface of the skin, they’re getting poisons and oxidants.

3.Get adequate rest and nutrition.

4.Protect yourself from stress — both emotional and environmental stress.

5.Wash your face twice a day and put on the proper treatment product. I’m amazed when women tell me they don’t wash their face in the morning. A lot of icky stuff collects overnight — dead skin cells, dirt, and dust!

6.Don’t neglect certain areas of the skin. Elbows, heels, neck, and decolletage need moisturizing, and your scalp and the tops of your feet need sun protection.

7.Touch your face less and wash your hands more! Don’t get too surgical on yourself. It’s very tempting to pick, poke, squeeze, and scratch in front of the mirror. But the more you traumatize the skin, the greater your risk of scarring. Apply treatment products and let them work.

8.Keep your makeup clean. Replace the sponges in your compact on a regular basis. Now and then, toss the whole works and start fresh — the average shelf life for cosmetics is 6 to 12 months. Don’t buy products so expensive that you’ll be heartbroken if you have to throw them away.

9.Exercise moderation. More is not always better. Moisturizer, for example, is the most overused product in America. We’ve been bamboozled by cosmetic companies into thinking every square inch of our body has to be slathered. And it’s simply not true. Exfoliators are another thing to be careful with. Used too often, they overacidify and irritate your skin.

10.Beware of counter girls. If it were up to them, you’d be in the bathroom for two and a half hours each morning — putting 80 layers on your face. Keep your regimen simple. And when you do add a new product, do it gradually so your skin has time to adjust. Each skincare or makeup product has an average of 20 to 40 ingredients — you’re introducing 20 to 40 potential allergens to your face every time you try something

How To Get Gorgeous Skin

* Don't go to bed with makeup on. Makeup left on overnight seeps into your pores, clogs them, and congests your skin. Make sure that you wash your face twice at the end of the day. Once to get the makeup off. A second time to wash the skin itself.

* Exfoliate daily. After washing your face at night, be sure to exfoliate. Use a delicate scrub. If you don't have one on hand, a tablespoon of sugar or oatmeal will work just fine.

* Use facial masks regularly. If possible, everyday is ideal. Again, if you don't have one on hand, make your own. Mashed banana or avocado is good. Plain yogurt also works well.

* Keep a treatment and moisturizer on your face, day or night. Put your skin first. After you wash it at night, put on some kind of skin treatment, whether it's alpha hydroxy acids, vitamin A or C, or any kind of special cocktail treatment. Let that sink in, then put a moisturizer over that. In the morning, do the same.

* Don't use the cheapest or most expensive cosmetics. Mom tells me that moderately priced cosmetics are the best. They get the job done, and the ingredients are usually pretty good. You have to keep trying various brands until you find something that works well for you.

* Hydrate your face throughout the day. Whether it's a commercial product, or one you make yourself (fill a spray bottle with distilled water, add a few drops of chamomile or rose essential oil, shake it gently before each use, and spray it on) hydrate your face, even over makeup, frequently throughout the day.

* Treat your face gently. Never pull, tug, or scrub your facial skin. Be very gentle when you clean it, moisturize it or makeup on it. This will lessen the chance that you'll damage your skin and get wrinkles.

* Keep your face covered when you're in the sun. As beautiful as she is, my mom never lets anyone see her face when she's in the sun. She'll slather on a high factor sunscreen, put on sunglasses, and a wide brimmed hat.

* Eat fresh foods and drink lots of water. My mom tells me to stay away from "dead food" food that's basically not fresh. She always eat lots of veggies, fruits, nuts, and drinks tons of water.

* Let go of stress. Stress can show up on your face, no matter how well you take care of your skin. Do something your enjoy everyday, whether it's watching TV or going shopping. Your face reflects what's going on inside of your mind.

Daily Skin Care Tips

The skin is the body’s protective barrier against the environment. We often take our skin for granted. Most people fail to realize that the skin needs daily care just like brushing one’s teeth. If the skin is not taken care of properly it can become dry, flaky, cracked and inflamed. This can predispose the skin to infection from wart viruses and bacteria. A daily skin care regimen should start as early as infancy and continue throughout one’s life.

Everyone has a natural oil covering their skin. This oil, named sebum, is made by glands in the skin. When the oil is removed by frequent use of drying agents, such as soap, the skin becomes dry which can lead to cracking and flaking. Once cracking occurs the skin is susceptible to inflammation and itching. Everyday factors that may cause drying of the skin include harsh soaps, long hot baths or showers, and frequent bathing or showering. Most people overdo skin cleaning.

Daily Skin Care (15-20 minutes each day):

1. Each day when you take your bath or shower, try to use luke warm water. Hot water dries out the skin. Try to limit your time to fifteen minutes or less in the bath or shower. Bathing should be done no more than once a day. If you bathe too frequently you will remove the natural oils from the skin causing dryness.

2. Avoid using harsh soaps which dry the skin. Recommended soaps are Dove and Basis. Deodorant soaps are often very harsh and drying. Even better than soap are soapless skin cleansers such as Cetaphil Lotion and Aquanil.

3. Limit the use of soap to areas that develop an odor such as the armpits, genital area, and feet.

4. When toweling dry, do not rub the skin. Blot or pat dry so there is still some moisture left on the skin.

5. Next apply a moisturizer to the skin. One that we recommend is Xtend-Life Age-Defense Day Cream. Concentrate on areas of your skin that become dry. Vaseline is good for severely dry skin and Lubriderm for normal skin. If you have oily skin you can skip this step.

6. All areas that are exposed to the sun, such as the face, ears, hands, and back of the neck should have a moisturizer containing sun block or a sun screen of SPF 15 or greater applied daily.

Daily Scalp Care (5-10 minutes each day):

1. The hair of the scalp tends to trap dead skin cells. When these cells build up and fall off they show as dandruff. This can be avoided by shampooing your scalp at least two to three times a week.

2. Thorough scrubbing of your scalp with your fingertips is necessary to loosen the oils and debris.

3. When rinsing the hair always use cool water, both before shampooing and after. This will add more body to the hair. Hot water causes the hair to appear limp.

4. Your choice of shampoo is a personal decision. Consumer Report Magazine found Pert Plus to leave the hair with the best body and shine.

Skin And Scalp Care Tips:

◦There is no difference between a moisturizer containing SPF 15 and a sun screen containing SPF 15.
◦Some experts believe that sunlight exposure during the first eighteen years of your life is most critical to the later development of skin cancer. Be sure to teach your children about the hazards of sunlight.
◦Sunlight causes skin cancer, aging and wrinkles of the skin. Nothing is more important for daily skin care than avoiding sunlight.
◦When shampooing, it is best to alternate between two to three different shampoos. Each will remove residue left by others. Our cosmetologist recommends Suave as a good all-purpose shampoo. You should switch shampoos each time you do your hair.

Coconut Oil for Skin

In order to understand the role of coconut oil on the skin, we have to go through the process of wrinkle formation. The skin is made up of connective tissues, which are responsible for its elasticity and smoothness. In young people, these tissues are strong and with age, free-radical attack breaks them down and the skin looses its elasticity as well as its strength. It has been observed that a free radical attack can lead to a chain of such reactions and as a result the skin looses its smoothness and develops wrinkles. This can be countered with the help of antioxidants, which can stop the chain reaction caused by the free radicals. The body must get sufficient antioxidants from the diet and refined vegetable oils do not contain natural antioxidants.

It is also claimed that these refined oils may promote the production of free radicals in the body. You can also tackle this problem with the help of skin products with antioxidants. As most of the commercial skin products lack antioxidants, coconut oil is considered to be best for skin care as it is loaded with antioxidants, which can fight free radicals and prevent aging. It can penetrate the deeper layers of the skin and strengthen the connective tissues.

Benefits of Coconut Oil for Skin

By fighting the free radical attacks on the skin, coconut oil can give you smooth and supple skin, free of wrinkles and blemishes. Hence, coconut oil as a skin moisturizer is very popular and widely accepted. It aids the skin in getting rid of the dead cells and give you a smooth and glossy look. This oil can protect you from the blemishes caused as a result of aging and sunlight exposure. Apart from enhancing the appearance of the skin, coconut oil is also useful in curing acne, wounds, rashes, burns and skin inflammation. It is also believed that it can improve the complexion, apart from protecting the skin from getting dry and flaky. Coconut oil is considered as one of the best massage oils. Unlike mineral oils, which can sometimes cause side effects, coconut oil is found to be completely safe for use in massages. Even though, there are three to four types of coconut oil available in the market, virgin coconut oil is the best for skin. You can even make coconut oil at home, especially virgin coconut oil.

Owing to the benefits of coconut oil for skin care, many of the skin care products, like soaps, lotions, creams, etc. have this oil as one of the main ingredients. It is also used in the treatment of some skin problems, like eczema and psoriasis. Apart from skin care, coconut oil is used for hair care too. You too can adopt the practice of using coconut oil, for achieving a young and healthy skin.
